Well, I have decided to take the plunge into the world of blogging. I am starting this blog to chronicle the construction of our new house. This is a private blog. Our new house project started several years ago when we began looking for acreage on which to build. We found a 53 acre parcel near Ann Arbor, about 12 miles from where we currently live, in 2005. We (mostly Len) rejected this property upon first seeing it as being not enough usable woods. It seemed that the 10 to 15 acres that were wooded were also swampy. There was no dry woods. When nothing more attractive turned up, we eventually looked at this piece again. Eventually I figured out that the big woodlot was merely surrounded by water, but was actually a very nicely wooded upland tract of 5 or 6 acres. Our interest evolved into an offer in Feb. 2007, which was quickly accepted. We closed May 4, 2007.
